As with previous years, AIIC participated in the 2013 edition of the (QLD) Premier’s Reading Challenge. Students from Prep to Year 6 represented the school in this initiative to encourage students to develop a love of reading for life. Through the challenge students were given an opportunity to further develop their appreciation of the English language and were encouraged to explore and enjoy a wide range of literary texts.

Last year AIIC was on the Hall Of Fame as she had a 100 percent participation rate in the competition.

Students were required to read a predetermined number of books from a recommended booklist within a four month timeframe to be able to complete the Reading Challenge successfully. Each of them received a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier himself and went into a lucky draw for a number of prizes.

As an Islamic learning institution, AIIC embraces such literacy programs, and they fit in well with her fundamental mission of preparing the students for life for, after all, it is hardly a coincidence that the very first commandment that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was to “Read!”
